FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers to the most common questions about personal insolvency in Singapore.

Personal bankruptcy in Singapore is a legal status declared when an individual owes at least S$15,000 and is unable to repay. Once declared bankrupt, you are protected from creditor action but must comply with certain obligations set by the Official Assignee. Discharge typically occurs after 3 to 7 years.

The DRS is an alternative to bankruptcy for individuals who owe less than S$150,000 (excluding secured debts) and have a stable income. A repayment plan is structured over up to 5 years. It is generally less stigmatising than bankruptcy and allows you to maintain more control over your financial affairs.

Not necessarily. In many cases, HDB flats are protected, especially if they are the principal home of the bankrupt and their family. However, every case is unique. Our consultants will conduct a thorough review of your specific situation and advise on the best strategies for protecting your home and other essential assets.

After being declared bankrupt, the discharge process typically takes between 3 and 7 years, depending on your cooperation with the Official Assignee, compliance with contribution requirements, and overall conduct. A first-time bankrupt who has fulfilled all obligations may be eligible for discharge in as little as 3 years.

A Voluntary Arrangement (VA) is a formal, legally binding agreement between you and your creditors to repay your debts in a structured and manageable way — without being declared bankrupt. It allows you to retain control of your assets and avoid the long-term restrictions of bankruptcy.

Absolutely. All consultations and information shared with us are strictly confidential. We understand the sensitivity of financial matters and are committed to the highest standards of privacy and discretion, in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).

We offer flexible, value-driven service packages starting from just $50, designed to ensure affordability without compromising quality. Your initial consultation is completely free with no obligation.
